Writing Sample
A comparative theory outlining the persuasiveness of infomercials. This project utilizes a literature review of relevant theories before applying the Cognitive Dissonance Theory (CDT) and Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) to the persuasive model of infomercials. After theories are established, I examine my own experiences with the persuasiveness of an infomercial product. Finally, I conclude the relevance of CDT and ELM to infomercials and my experiences with infomercial products. This project highlights my ability to use word processing programs, such as Google Docs.
Visual Timeline
This is a visual timeline group project of the predominant theories of technology and communication. The timeline highlights five theories and briefly explains key information about them and when they were developed. The theories are placed in chronological order with sources cited in each section. The final entries of the timeline list all refenced utilized in the explanation of theories. This project highlights my ability to navigate programs such as KightLabs to build projects across mediums.
Infographic Sample
This is an infographic group project that discusses the pros and cons of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academia. The infographic identifies the pros and cons of using AI while highlighting some possible strategies for managing its implementation. This project utilized the application Canva to build a brief visual aid in an appealing manner in order to convey information quickly.
Presentation Sample
This presentation of listening strategies informs viewers of two listening styles that can be applied to a brief video. I compare relational listeners to task-oriented listeners while defining relevant terms and citing credible sources. After watching a video, I discuss different strategies to listen effectively that can be applied to the video, as well as in different contexts. This project highlights my adaptability to visual mediums such as Google Slides.
